TIM PLESTER // (writer & director)
ENGLISH LANGUAGE (WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES) marks Tim’s directorial debut. Previously, he created, wrote and produced the acclaimed short films ‘ANT MUZAK’ (starring Nick Moran and Mackenzie Crook), BLAKE’S JUNCTION 7 (starring Johnny Vegas and Martin Freeman) and WORLD OF WRESTLING (starring Mackenzie Crook and Kris Marshall) which have won a number of awards and been screened at film festivals worldwide - including Edinburgh, Raindance, Cardiff, Foyle, Sydney, Los Angeles, Toronto Worldwide, Uppsala, Cinequest and Slamdance. Based in London, Tim is also an award-winning playwright and a successful TV and film actor.

Signed to the pioneering Fence Records label in Scotland, Barbarossa (meaning ‘Red Beard’ in Italian) is the alter-ego of London-based singer/songwriter James Mathe. Recent live performances include The Homegame festival, Bestival, The Green Man festival, Folk Britannia at The Barbican and a support slot with Jose Gonzalez. Voted ‘Album Of The Week’ by Rough Trade, Barbarossa’s debut long-player, CHEMICAL CAMPFIRES, is a deeply personal and honest collection of folk-tinged songs, which fuse together modern recording techniques with acoustic instrumentation to showcase James’ stunning vocal range and knack for melody.

Born in Sweden, Myanna grew up in the Middle East before moving to England aged 16. An Associate Director of Fringe-First winning Mahwaff Theatre Company, her acting credits for film and TV include: the co-lead in THE DESCENT (Celador), DOOMSDAY (Crystal Sky Pictures), CREDO (Alto Films), DOCTOR WHO (BBC), CASUALTY (BBC), ‘MURDER PREVENTION (World Productions) and MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING (BBC).
